old masters cloth painting
The six day old master cloth course is great for building your portfolio. Students work from an old master painting, taking a section scale up using a grid, and paint the cloth using an underpainting technique. This builds the image gradually and breaks what looks like a very complicated painting into manageable layers. Paintings from the Renaissance through until the 19th century suit this technique. Although portraits are a popular choice we have also had students paint landscapes, sea-scapes and still life, there are many possibilities.
We have students from all creative backgrounds take this course from more hobby painters wanting to try painting on a large scale to fine art graduates exploring a new technique. The results are always remarkable whatever the initial experience.
