This course is a wonderful immersion into the world of scenic bricks. It's an action packed five days in which students learn create textured bricks 5 ways from smooth ceramic subway tiles to rough textured railway arches.

 

We use many different techniques and materials to recreate very specific brick finishes. There is also a collaborative element where we paint a large scale ghost sign and students work together looking carefully at the reference provided. The final project gives students the opportunity to work on a larger section of scenery, to practice the skills they have been taught and then age the work appropriately.
